Inspiration

With the Wedding Show behind us and the inquiries coming in from the show, we are a couple of busy women,lol! We are more than happy to answer any and all questions you have about booking and preparing for your session. But the #1 question that is coming at us this week is… “What do we wear??” Once your session is reserved you will receive a complete what to wear guide. And if you are still not sure bring a whole bunch of stuff and we will help you decide at the shoot.

For now I thought I would address some things about wardrobe over the next few days. Look for more posts this week and next about what to wear for your session!

I took inspiration for this post from Maxim Magazine. Their stylists and photographers are not all about the bikini’s and lingerie. Yup, there is lots of that there but I love how they use street clothes to add layers to their outfits. We think it adds a touch of intimacy and realism to your images. It also gives you something to do with your hands, unbuttoning a top, pulling on ties, wrapping material around your waist. That’s hot;) It also helps hide areas you don’t really want photographed. That is definitely a plus:)

We love pretty tops, henley tops, sweaters, and cardigans in a boudoir shoot. Trench coats, leather jackets, dresses too.

So go through your closet, look for lacy, shear, off the shoulder, chunky knit clothing that you already own!

{why every woman should experience boudoir} winnipeg boudoir photography

There are so many reasons why every woman should have a boudoir session.  For most women it will be a once in a lifetime experience, but with some of these reasons, perhaps you’ll find yourself coming back for more.

to commemorate a significant birrthday

to celebrate a special anniversary

to pamper the mom who always puts her family first

to capture your youth

to show you “still got it” after all these years

to reward yourself for reaching a goal

to give your fiance an unforgettable gift before he walks down the aisle

because you owe it to yourself to celebrate you, right now.

We are all aware of our flaws and insecurities but how often do we concentrate on the positive? We all have them. The little things that are unique to each of us, that our partners see, that make his heart go pitter patter.

The curl of a lock of hair brushing your shoulder,

The curve of your lips in a half smile,

The arch of your lower back,

The sweep of thick dark eyelashes.

We want to capture you in a way that celebrates your assets and minimizes your insecurities.  We see how beautiful you are, let us show you.

Inspire Me {winnipeg boudoir photography}

Carol here, I don’t want anyone to think Lizette may have written this post,lol!

I have a small confession to make:) I am not a shoe girl.

I know! I shouldn’t even type those words!! For shame, for shame!!

I just have a hard time picking shoes, finding comfortable ones and finding a place in a home of 3 girls to put them!!

So I don’t buy them. BUT I do LOVE them. And I think they make a HUGE difference in the look of your boudoir images.

Need shoes for your boudoir shoot? Look for these 4 things:

1: Height. That’s right, the higher the better baby! They turn “ho-hum legs” into “wowza look at them legs” in an instant!

2: Details. Look for cute little details in the shoe to add a little something extra. Ruffle, zipper, ribbon, cut out, you get it!

3: Color. Now, don’t get me wrong, you gotta have at least one killer pair of black heels, but don’t forget about pink, green, blue and yellow!!! It doesn’t need to match the color in your outfit either. Just as long as it coordinates. Think red/navy, pink/lime green, brown/orange, teal/red.

4: Height. Worth repeating!! Go high for goodness sakes!!

Here are a few beautiful heels that would rock your boudoir shoot. What are you waiting for?

Inspire Me {Winnipeg Boudoir Photography}

I thought I would address red in our inspire me boards right away as it’s a pretty popular color for boudoir. Now don’t get us wrong, we do love red! In fact it’s my (Carol) favorite color! It’s sexy, it’s hot, it’s the color of love for goodness sakes! BUT it’s a difficult color to do well for boudoir. It’s a strong color and it can take over your image. We want YOU to be the focus of your images not the red bustier you are wearing.  So here are a few tips about using red for your Coco Boudoir Session. Pick one or two things MAXIMUM for an outfit in red, for example heels and a bracelet or necklace. Pair it with a soft beige or cream to tone it down. Check out the pretty red and beige negligee below. Now that is gorgeous!! Pick a rich dark red. It will photograph beautifully and it won’t be in-your-face-red. Incorporate red into accessories like pillows or lamps to add color to your all white or cream outfit. Of course a beautiful red lip color will look amazing! Our makeup artist, Karrie, will help you pick a color right for your skin tone. Check out a few examples below! Gotta a style or color you’d like to see featured on Inspire Me Boards? Leave a comment and we’ll get it up!

You are beautiful {Winnipeg Boudoir Photography}

Yup, I’m talking to you. You are beautiful, inside and out, upside down and backwards.

Operation Beautiful

Caitlin, the editor of Operation Beautiful is on a mission to change the way we see ourselves. The mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other women to find. The point is that WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL. You are enough… just the way you are!

I’ve only looked back a few posts here but my favorite note ,posted on a scale in a store, so far is this:

“This scale will not tell you the following:

-what a great person you are

-how much your family and friends love you

-that you can make a stranger melt with your beautiful smile

-that you have the power to choose happiness” (this is my fav!!!)

What an amazing way to encourage and support all women!! Get out there and post your own notes, it will make you feel beautiful too!  Thanks so much Tina for sharing this!

Inspire Me {Winnipeg Boudoir Photography}

Need some inpiration for your Coco Boudoir session? Check out this new regular feature of Inspire Me!  These inspiration boards are put together just to show you some of the things we love. No need to go out and purchase these items, just use them for color/style ideas when you are out shopping. And don’t forget to check out non lingerie stores. Some of the hottest looks are using street clothing in a new, sexy way. Think trench coat, or cardigan sweater with little (or nothing!) underneath…

The first one up is, of course, Coco inspired:)
